ABOUT STORY TELLER
Born and brought up in Mumbai I started my professional career at the age of 16, selling wrist watches on the local trains of Mumbai city to support my education. I had no other choice given my family’s financial reality. Fortunately that’s not how I felt because I in fact enjoyed the challenge. Selling watches taught me immensely about human nature and every watch sold was an affirmation to my credibility and conviction. At 17 I started working as an errand boy in an Executive-Marketing and Research group. A few months into this job I started selling credit cards and debt collection. A sense of empowerment from challenging myself drove me to work hard and educate myself because the truth is I always had a choice; to just work and not study. Now the icing on the cake to this story would be me finishing my graduation as one of the top rankers in the University or at least my college. I FLUNKED. But this was my biggest blessing in disguise. I realised when I failed that with all the work and study I had been preparing myself to overcome challenges and not just succeed without any hurdles….because that concept to me is just fictional.
In 2002, right after my graduation I joined Krystal Tradecom Pvt. Ltd, a newly formed company with capital investment of Rs.2.5lac, as a Collections Executive. I always had a keen interest in academics. As the company grew so did my hunger to expand my scope as a professional. I pursued an MBA in Human Resource from Somaiya Institute of Management Studies & Research. I also have done my LLB from Mumbai University and am currently pursuing an LLM in Business Law from Mumbai University. Today I am the Senior Vice-President and Head of Operations for ‘Krystal Group Of Companies’, one of the top players in the field of ‘Integrated Facility Management Services’ in India with an average annual group turnover of about ₹400 Crores.
The one thing I have learned from my life experiences is that the only way to excel in this world is to inculcate the habit of being a leader strategizing & planning your future rather than just be a follower, letting someone else decide your future for you. So I carry the responsibility of being an astute leader. I strive with rigor to inspire my team and drive them forward to accelerate the growth not only of my company but each one of them as individuals. I make sure I constantly share my knowledge and experience with the younger generation of entrepreneurs, motivating and empowering them to set ambitious goals and have a clear vision of achieving them. I wasn’t born successful. But my insatiable hunger for excellence drove me to where I stand today. Sincere efforts, complete dedication, a persevering attitude and a deep fire for success are the foundations for a successful professional and personal life. I firmly believe that there is no substitute for any on these.
I believe it is my obligation to create and inspire future leaders which is why I have a deep affinity and have been working with Human Resource Management: “Human Capital Management”, as I like to call it.
